Music Generation has begun again with the sound of guitars strumming and rhythms beating every Tuesday morning.
Orienteering has begun for six weeks with Sarah from Youth sport West. The children are enjoying combining running with new navigational skills.
We were all very excited preparing for Christmas 2022. Christmas art was hung on the walls and the school was decorated with handmade crafts. Poems and Christmas carols were practiced. The Christmas play was a huge success with our young actors and singers putting on a show to be remembered.
The school was overrun with scary creatures for Halloween. The children had great fun playing traditional Halloween games and learning about Halloween traditions.
We had a great Science Week in the school. Children enjoyed the Circus Science Show in Riverstown with Dr. Ken who explored the science behind skilful circus tricks and dangerous stunts. Throughout the week children conducted experiments, planted bulbs, participated in a science quiz and presented at our science demonstration on the theme of light.
We had a very enjoyable Maths week in the school. Children participated in Maths trails, “Guesstimation”, puzzles, quizzes and problem solving activities
The senior room had a great opportunity recently to work with archaeologist Nick on the investigation of an early Christian settlement right beside our school.
The Green Schools committee organised a great “day of action” in the school. There were lots of fun activities and a Christmas market for the children. Happy Christmas everyone.
Our nine new junior infants have settled in well helped by their friends in senior infants and first class.
The dry weather has helped for outdoor play and once again the polydrons are a big hit. Some new games are proving popular for Golden Time or rainy days.
GAA coaching is back for 6 weeks with Ross Donovan, with everyone enjoying practising their skills.
